How to clean non-stick frying pan

How to clean non-stick frying pan

When you buy a frying pan, the ideal is to inform yourself about the conditions of the material it is made of so that you can use it, clean it, and preserve it in the best possible way. But some tips are for all types of pans. So regardless of the type of pan you use, never scrub it when it’s hot. Wait until it has cooled completely to prevent it from warping, creating an uneven, crooked surface that will heat unevenly, experts say.

Nonstick pans

Nowadays, many people are betting on using non-stick pans, but what to do with non-stick pans?

– Never preheat an empty pan. Rub a little oil into the cold pan before heating it, but don’t use the cooking spray because it builds up over time and makes the pan prone to sticking.

Wash nonstick pans by hand after each use with warm water instead of hot water. The coating can absorb some of the flavors, and if the food sits out too long, everything else you cook in it will taste like that potent spice.

-For any leftover food, submerge the pan in soapy water, but be sure to avoid harsh detergents as these can also damage the coating. A natural alternative is a solution of water and baking soda that can help remove residue. And instead of steel wool or scouring pads, opt for a sponge or soft cloth.

-If you want them to last, it is best to use wooden spoons or soft silicone spatulas to avoid scratching or piercing the surface. And when it comes to cooking, always use low or medium heat.

-Do not wash your non-stick pans in the dishwasher, as it may break the coating. And don’t stack other utensils on top of them because you can scratch their nonstick surfaces. Place paper napkins, or kitchen towels on top to store them.

Stainless steel, copper, and enamel pans

-For stainless steel, copper, and enamel pans that have become stained during cooking, try filling the pan with a solution of one part vinegar and three parts water, and wait until the boiling point to remove stains. When removing the pan from the heat, you can add a tablespoon or two of baking soda. Next, pour out the solution and wash the pan as usual.

-Stainless steel pans should not be soaked if possible, as the iron in tap water can cause rust. Use a scourer and normal kitchen soap, but a special soap for stainless steel, and remember that you can put stainless steel in the dishwasher, but if you want to remove stains, it is better to clean them by hand.

How to clean a burnt pot or pan

How many times has it happened that we have gotten a little out of hand with time or power and we have cooked the food a little more? Well, the worst of all is not that, but the black layer of burnt remains in our pot or pan and there is no way to remove it. Here are some tips that you may find very useful.

We have good news and that is that even for this problem, there is not one, but several solutions. In addition, these tricks with domestic ingredients that you already have on hand will save you both the effort and the damage to your pan by using other products.

These methods can be applied to most cookware, whether you use induction pans or the best stainless steel pans.

  • Table salt
  • baking soda and vinegar
  • Coke
  • Drying wipes for the washing machine

Table salt

Standard table salt can be used to treat pans that are slightly burned. This is usually a good option for a recent burn or for those who automatically do the dishes after eating.

Well, the trick is quite simple. Simply sprinkle a generous amount of salt on the pan in question and use a damp sponge to work the salt into the burn. Repeat the process until the burn is gone.

Baking soda and vinegar

It is known by all that bicarbonate is used for absolutely everything and of course, to get rid of a burnt pot, too.

A homemade combination of baking soda and vinegar is more than enough to solve most pan-cleaning emergencies. Cleaning would be done in three easy steps.

  1. Fill the burned pan with enough water. Pour a cup of white vinegar and put the pan on the fire. When it starts to boil, remove it.
  2. Now place the saucepan on a heat-resistant surface, add two tablespoons of baking soda, and leave it for a couple of minutes. Then remove the mixture and let the pan cool for a minute.
  3. Finally wash the pan gently.

The coke

Just as it can be used to clean coins or defrost window panes, Coca-Cola can also be used to dislodge scorch marks.

Simply pour a generous amount of Coca-Cola into the pan and let it sit for a few hours. Soaking it will allow the food to soften and loosen, meaning you can remove any leftovers with a soft sponge or plastic scraper.

Drying wipes for the washing machine

A clothes-drying wipe may seem like an unlikely option for treating food-burned pans. But it’s surprisingly effective in helping to remove stubborn marks that may have built up on your pans.

Submerge the pan in warm, soapy water and fully submerge a dryer sheet in it. Let it soak for at least an hour, rinse it off, and then use a sponge or cloth to remove the burnt substance.

By keeping these tricks in mind, it’s quite likely that you’ll be free from the pot or pan burns. Of course, it’s not always possible to treat the burn and leave your cookware intact. Be that as it may, avoid detergents or abrasive liquids that will remove the burn. But that will also take the entire base of your pan with them.
